10. If a horse has a red ribbon on its tail it means it kicks (you might want to ask because the person might not know this but if theres no one to ask stay on the safe side!)

DAILY FACTS ( I JUST POSTED YESTERDAYS BELATED FACTS)

• a horses mother is called a dam
• a farrier is the name of a person who cares for a horses hoof
• On average the horses heart ways 10 pounds

Weird Fact

• A white horse is actually called a "Gray" because it has black skin underneath, but there is also a pure "White" horse that has pink skin underneath these horses are very rare.

Sorry I didn't get time for yesterdays facts but here they are:

• Horses love licorice
• Horses are members of the "equus family" which a word from greese meaning quickness
• A horse can drink up to 10 gallons of water a day
• When a foal is born it takes around 1-2 hours to stand/walk

• Along time ago (seriously long ago) in certain parts of America horses were extinct until they were re introduced from natives of South America! - this information was from a interesting fact book on horses when I can get the title I will post it

Flicka - a horse movie

Flicka is a awesome horse movie about a girl named Katy who discovers a beautiful mustang mare near her fathers ranch. She names the horse flicka meaning "beautiful girl". Her father will not let her keep the horse but she never gives up every night she creeps out and slowly tames flicka more and more. What will happen next? I totally think this is one of the best movies ever but be warned there is a few sad parts!!! Above is the cover of the dvd but there is other cover designs. Picture from google images

Todays horse facts are.....

• One of the first ever horses was called a Hyrocotherium and it lived about 50 million years ago and was about as tall as a fox!
• Horses are scientifically called Equines
• The oldest horse ever was 48 years old
• Horses live for about 30 years, ponies often live longer
• Andalusian horses can be taught to sit like a dog but it is very painful for them
• Today there is a average population of 60 million domestic horses worldwide!

Todays weird fact is.......

• Muals (donkey cross horse) can not breed the only way to get them is to breed a donkey and a horse

Andalusian horses are my favourite breed!! You know why? they are not just beautiful, they are spanish dancing horses! The actually move to the beat!! You can even watch them at shows!

• Horses are measured in hands - 10 cm / 4 inchs per hand
• 13.2 hands or under is a pony over 13.2 is a horse
• The part of the bridle thats goes in the horses mouth is called a bit
• The smallest horse recorded is 50 cm - 5 hands
• Always walk in front of a horse not behind so it knows your there

• The soft part on a horses hoof is called a FROG!
